ChompTheBit Recap!

Friday night was a huge success!

20 local developers from southern Indiana, Lexington, and our own Louisville based GameDevLou crew showed off their latest work to a big crowd at Zanzabar in louisville.

Zanzabar is a great spot here in Louisville that is known for having a multitude of awesome retro arcade cabinets and pinball machines.

The event was a big launch party for local studio Mommy’s Best Games‘ new mobile game ‘Finger Derpy’. Nathan and Amy Fouts (Mommy’s Best Games) had several fun activities planned, including contests with great prizes like custom Finger Derpy themed Louisville Stoneware plates!

Thanks again to Mommy’s Best Games, and Zanzabar for making this all possible, it was a great opportunity to show Louisville that yes, we do make games here, and they are rad!

Local Games/developers on Local TV!

‘Out and About with Keith Kaiser’

So this early morning (and I do mean early… 4:45am!) some of us from GameDevLou had the pleasure of hanging out with Nathan & Amy Fouts of Mommy’s Best Games to be on a morning TV spot for their new game Finger Derpy! We all met at Zanzabar (where the #ChompTheBit event will be friday!) with Keith Kaiser and Eric from WDRB Fox 41 news. The shooting process for a live morning show was an interesting experience, it took place in small spurts that were sprinkled into the morning show live.

I (Alex) had the awesome opportunity to show off Stanley Squeaks and the Emerald Burrito, which is the Two Scoop Games entry for #ChompTheBit. I had no idea what to say, and nothing was rehearsed, but I think everyone did well and got across what we were trying to convey.

There are two videos up on the WDRB website now, so check them out here:

SyRUSH is out now for iOS!

The latest game from us here at Two Scoop Games is SyRUSH, which we have deemed “the official waffle simulator of breakfast,” is out now and available in the iOS App Store. Feel the rush in this fast-paced arcade style game where you tap waffle squares to fill your waffle with the perfect distribution of mouth-watering toppings. Full version of the game includes 7 unique toppings.

This is our first leap into Apple’s GameCenter, which means SyRUSH has online leaderbords to compete with waffle afficianados across the globe, and fun achievements to unlock.

The game is free to try, and 99 cents to purchase the full game(via in-app-purchase).

Check it out here, and download it for iOS: http://twoscoopgames.com/syrush

Sunday, July 20th Meeting Recap

Today we met at Velocity Indiana and had some new members attend.

The major thing we accomplished was to get a GameDevLou directory page, and a current game projects page set up. We set up the people who attended the meeting, so if you missed it and want to get added, follow the instructions from the mailing list.

Alex finished up a version of the GameDevLou logo suitable for stickers, and many people pitched in to place an order of 100 high-quality Sticker Mule die-cut stickers. They should arrive in time for the next meeting.

Mattie showed off a game called Pivvot, and also streamed some of The International DOTA 2 competition while trying to explain the game to us.

Nick Branstein made it to his first meeting, and showed off his game Fat Baby Dragons: Tower Defense.

Rex worked on Spit Ballar.

Daniel worked on his game White Mage Killed a Guy.

GameDevLou members at work

Barry and Mike worked on their game Bubble Runner as well as some back-end hosting issues with this blog.
